Spearheaded by the Local Council for Women, the whole-day municipal celebration of Women's Month this year was truly memorable as it witnessed many firsts. GAD Focal Person, Mrs. Grace A. Taganap cited that this was the first celebration participated in by our women groups from different sectors -- the Barangay Health Workers, the Day Care Workers, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, the Catholic Wome's League, the Young Women's Christian Association, the Barangay Service Point Officers and the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina Barangay Associations.

As proof of the increasing role of women in community affairs, among the speakers were Atty. Laurencia Abelon - the first woman Provincial Prosecutor of Pangasinan, Hon. Alice Pulido - the first woman Board Member of the first district of Pangasinan and PO1 Alma J. Conte - the first police woman from Bani.

Attended by almost 200 women and celebrated with the theme: "CEDAW ng Bayan: Karapatan ng Kababaihan (Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women), among the highlights were the presentation on RA 9262 - The Anti-Violence AgainstWomen and Their Children Act of 2004 given by Atty. Laurencia Abelon, and the tribute made to Banian women by the Municipal Mayor Gabriel E. Navarro. As part of the festivities, various groups gave special numbers and a raffle was drawn.
