Ninety representatives from 24 barangays attended the one-day Training for Enumerators on the Conduct of the Barangay Civil Registration System (BCRS) Household Survey held at the Function Hall, Bani Livelihood Center last July 14, 2006.

The BCRS is a strategy to facilitate civil registration at the community level with the assistance of the Barangay Council to help attain 100% timely registration of all vital events and realize the fundamental right to a name and nationality of every child and citizen.

The BCRS has an Information System that will serve as a record of all inhabitants and as a database that will help generate indicators and useful local statistics as inputs to development plans.

This is a component of the Birth Registration Project, a joint endeavor of the National Statistics Office and Plan Philippines with LGU-Bani, which will provide technical assistance, learning activities, survey materials and a computer.

The Barangays have started their surveys and hope to complete them by mid August. Encoding of results will be done in the Municipal Civil Registry Office.
